PORTABLE ULTRASONIC FLOW METER
A portable ultrasonic flow meter is a non-invasive, battery-powered device used for temporary flow measurement without interrupting processes or requiring pipe modifications. It uses clamp-on sensors that attach to the outside of a pipe to measure flow velocity by timing ultrasonic pulses sent through the fluid. These meters are versatile, suitable for various pipe sizes and materials, and often feature a handheld design with a digital display for easy setup and data collection.
Key features
Non-invasive and non-intrusive: Clamp-on sensors are attached to the outside of the pipe, eliminating the need for drilling or shutting down the system for installation.
Portability: Designed to be handheld and battery-powered for flexible deployment in various locations.
Broad compatibility: Can be used with a wide range of pipe materials (steel, copper, PVC, etc.) and sizes, often from \(0.5″\) to \(48″\) or more.
Versatile applications: Used in HVAC, water treatment, chemical processing, power generation, and other industrial applications for tasks like leak detection, system commissioning, and temporary flow monitoring.
Transit-time principle: Measures flow by calculating the difference in time it takes for ultrasonic pulses to travel upstream and downstream through the fluid.
Data logging and output: Many models include internal data logging capabilities, with some offering software for analysis and data export. They can also often provide real-time outputs like analog (\(4-20mA\)) or digital signals.
Rugged design: Often built with durable, handheld electronics, sometimes with an IP67 rating for protection against harsh environments.
User-friendly interface: Typically features an easy-to-use menu system and a backlit digital display for clear readings.
